Comparison and Analysis of SPC Flooring and WPC Flooring

Table of Content [Hide]

With the development of the building and decoration industry, demand for flooring continues to rise, and a wide variety of products are emerging. In addition to traditional solid wood, bamboo, and cork flooring, SPC and WPC composite flooring are also gaining popularity. Despite similarities in waterproofing, durability, pattern, and installation methods, consumers still find themselves confused when choosing between these two types of flooring. The following detailed analysis of SPC and WPC flooring will help you better understand the two.

    Product Structure

SPC flooring consists of five layers:

UV protection layer: Protects the floor from discoloration caused by sunlight.

    Wear-resistant layer: Improves scratch resistance.

Decorative layer: Available in a variety of colors and patterns.

SPC vinyl layer: Provides a sturdy foundation.

    Underlayer (optional): Enhances user comfort.

WPC flooring also consists of five layers:

UV layer: Prevents discoloration caused by sunlight.

    Wear-resistant layer: Enhances scratch resistance.

Decorative layer: Also available in a variety of colors and patterns.

WPC vinyl layer: Provides a sturdy foundation.

    Underlayer (optional): Adds comfort.

    Materials

SPC flooring's core material is primarily limestone, combined with polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and stabilizers. WPC flooring, on the other

hand, has a core composed of recycled wood and polyvinyl chloride (PVC), with a foaming agent added.

    Performance Comparison

SPC flooring is between 3.2 and 7 mm thick. Due to the use of natural limestone, it is heavier, providing a solid feel and high density. It

is impact-resistant and adaptable to extreme temperatures, but its sound insulation is relatively poor. WPC flooring is between 5.5 and

8 mm thick. It is lighter, made from recycled wood and vinyl materials, offering a softer feel and comfort, but its impact resistance is

weaker and it is more prone to dents. WPC has better sound insulation, but its stability under temperature changes is poor. In terms of

environmental friendliness, SPC flooring is formaldehyde-free and more environmentally friendly; WPC flooring contains trace amounts

of formaldehyde, which may pose a health hazard. In terms of price, SPC flooring is generally more affordable, while WPC flooring is

    relatively more expensive.

    Suitable Applications

SPC flooring is ideal for high-traffic commercial spaces, homes with children or pets, and price-sensitive consumers. In contrast, WPC

flooring is more suitable for spaces with lower traffic and where comfort is a priority.

When choosing between SPC and WPC flooring, it's crucial to consider your needs and the environment in which you'll be using it. SPC

flooring is better suited for locations requiring high durability and impact resistance, while WPC flooring prioritizes comfort and sound

insulation. Before making a decision, consider your usage frequency, maintenance needs, and budget. If you have any questions, please
